From Tonilee (as of 12:00 PM Tuesday, Oct 23)

I received the reverse 911 call yesterday at noon to evacuate. We are at my mom’s house, including Mercy. We are getting a little stir crazy as our only activity is changing the news stations for the updated information. Rob is the only surgeon in town (his partners had to evacuate and are out of town) but has not had to go in. That’s good because he is pretty smoke sick. Rob said that my mom’s house has better air quality today than the hospital had yesterday. This house is in a good position and we have not had any warnings to leave. If the electricity goes out or we get “the leave call” we will head up to my brother’s in Tustin. We will also leave if any of our breathing becomes a problem. 

It is amazing that we came down from the mountain (a women’s retreat at Palomar Mtn) to literal fires! The verse in Isaiah that Dyan quoted (Isaiah 43:2)was the verse quoted up at the retreat. What a wonderful confirmation that God is with us no matter what happens. The rain falls on the just and the unjust as well as the fires!

Bobbye and Tom are in a very precarious situation. They can see the fires on the mountains in front of them. The fire men and police men have been out to their house to warn them of the dangers. Praise God that Tom has fire hoses, smokes masks and goggles. Pray for them though. If the wind shifts or picks up, they will be the next victim. Actually, to quote Bobbye, “No one is safe yet.”

I know that Laura and her family got evacuated and are in Newport Beach.
Nikki…where are you? I know that Tres told us that Vons in Carmel Valley shut down.
Jahan and Anni, where are you?

It was just on the News that the schools are shut down all week.
I can get on line at times. The cable company sent everyone home too but if you are online, keep us all posted.

Hello everyone…

To update you on me and TL, we are both safe. TL evacuated early yesterday and is staying at her mom’s in Encinitas. They are safe and sound. Tom and I have had a very interesting time to say the least. Our home is across the mountain burning north of Del Dios. It started around noon yesterday and we watched the fire all day and all night. They evacuated our area but we have stayed. At this point, we are not in immediate danger as the fire has died down and they have gotten a handle on the area for now. We are next to The Bridges and they have had extensive fire support in that area. For now, we are all safe, except for some bad air and lots of soot and debris.

Thanks for your prayers and calls, just know that we are doing okay. TL is without the Internet or email capability but for now I have access. I will stay in touch if anything changes but otherwise, for all of us, let’s thank the Lord for His hand of protection.

We will be in continued prayer for all of you.
