A friend of Daily Disciples Ministries named Randy is ministering alone in Thailand. He sent us this testimony and gave us approval to post it on the blog site. We did edit the length a little. Please keep Randy in prayer as he is on the front lines in obedience to the Lord’s call on his life:
I went by invitation with a church in Chantaburi to give Christmas gifts to the poor children of the area (around 10 hours from Bangkok). It was a collaborated effort of about 10 churches for a multiple event, going from location to location each day to service the children and speak to the adults, as well as just rejoice in Christ. I went with an interpreter, a woman by the name of Awe. I went but was not sure I had anything to offer since there were so many ministers directly involved. I was sure that whatever the programs were, they would be well planned in advance for any speakers. Boy was I wrong.
[After ministering and already very late,] one of the main pastors of the events grabbed me by the hand. He spoke broken English, but wanted me to follow him. He and others led me to a back room. There was a young girl of about 20 or so, (I never found out her age,) on a mat with her eyes wide open, staring into space and no movement. The local pastor of this particular church and his wife were praying over her, along with several others, including the child’s parents. It was a deliverance. I of course joined in, expecting to add faith to the leadership there. Instead it is like the waters parted and I found that they had appointed me the designated leader of this deliverance. Frankly, this was the first deliverance I had gone through in maybe 35 years, since the old Pilgrim days, and even then I gave support, not leadership. We had many wild deliverances then, nothing lasting over 24 hours, but wild nevertheless. I had experiences to fall upon, but never leading in such deliverances. And yet here I was. All the other pastors left except the local pastor and his wife, family, and the family of the child. It was them and me.
There was no discernment at that time that I had as to why the child was in this condition, so of course I used the shot-gun approach, throwing everything at her that I could remember us doing in past deliverances I’d experienced. She seemed to come to a little. You could now communicate with her. She was quite tired.
I understand that they had been at this for three days when I came into the picture, and in truth this battle over this demon started three months ago when she went to a service, went forward and went under. Her family sent her to the local Buddhist monks who then beat her on her back and abused her body, poking her body with pins and other such means while trying to make the spirit leave. I found out later that her mother used to drink blood and harbor a spirit within her to protect the family as a whole. It was customary for the women to do so to protect their families in this area. (Much of this is sketchy information at best that I was getting because of the language barrier, but you get the main picture.) When she came to, she was exhausted and I was too. I knew she was not totally delivered, but it appeared we were making progress. We decided to get some sleep. I told the pastor to put tapes of the Bible by her bed and wash her in the Word during her sleep. (This was done quite affectively in Palmdale Hospital in California as a means to at times deliver the insane.) I went to bed, I do not know what hour… it was late.
At about 8:00 AM Awe awakens me, telling me the girl was again in this comatose state. With a cup of coffee in hand I again went to work, wiping the sleepers from my eyes. I refused to eat and basically did not eat until I saw her deliverance. (Fasting is not well understood over here. Communal meals are seemingly the backbone of their society, whether business or pleasure. To turn down meals is disturbing to these people; but they began to understand a little that I intended to do nothing else until the child was delivered, and accepted it finally with my insistence over their objections. In time I think my insistence was later looked at as strength, and it strengthened their resolve as well in this matter as faith grew.) The pastors told me I was the guest speaker in that evening’s meeting. I told them I would go only if the girl was delivered by then. I explained to them it was like delivering a child, you do not leave until the woman gives birth. They understood, but still insisted that I go and speak if I could. I agreed. All the pastors left to the next event, leaving me with Awe, the local pastor, his wife, the child needing deliverance, and her mother and father.
There had been no gift of discernment of spirits in this church. The night before I had told the pastor we were working somewhat blind, that he needed to pray for a discerning of spirits within the church in such cases, giving him some understanding as to what I was speaking of. Apparently he did understand and prayed, for by the later morning his wife started being able to see a little into the spiritual world. She saw a death mask over the child’s face, in particular over her eyes and brow. The Lord showed her that the spirit was on her to kill her. We then had a name, calling it a spirit of death, but I quickly told it that it was attempting to usurp the authority that was our Lord’s who only had the power over life and death, not this spirit. Commanding it to go, we maintained the pressure of song, praise, worship, prayer, Scripture, and verbal authority over the demon in the name of Christ. By 4:00 PM the girl started to come back. Coming to, she saw Awe, and sat up to grab her, hugging her with great fervor. She was however very weak and could not stand without help. She needed to go to the toilet, and her mother used this time to give her a sponge bath.
The girl then told me through my interpreter that she wanted me to go to the meeting that evening; and if I went, she would go also. Even though I knew that she was not totally delivered, she was alive and now talking about what she was feeling, even expressing her experiencing the presence of this spirit taking her over and what it felt like to her. I took her insistence in us going to that evening’s event and me teach there as an act of faith on her part, and went to the event with her and the Pastor and families. We had to support her walking, but she went and actively participated with the people around her verbally with a great smile. When she smiled, she lit up the place. I knew she was enjoying herself and knew we had made the right decision to go. She never lost consciousness, and after the event we literally carried her home, where then she went to sleep on her own efforts. The next morning however she was again in this comatose state. Despite this, that evening went well. I taught and many accepted the Lord. I prayed for others, giving words of knowledge and counseling in the process.
The next morning was back to work for her deliverance. I assured the families I would not leave their community until we saw the full victory. I called Bangkok and got several churches to also begin to pray for her. I was gearing up for a fight to the end, no matter how long it might take. I told the families I would get to an internet service and get churches in America also to start praying. (I never had the opportunity, but the intent was there and would have been followed up if the fight had not so suddenly been won… but I am jumping ahead in my story.) That morning for the first time all the pastors came into the room with this girl laying comatose and her eyes staring into a void with no light or life in them. They gathered in a circle, but I sat beside the girl and kept my hands on her brow, keeping the pressure directly on the spirit’s deliverance. The pastors spoke with very little authority, but they nevertheless united in their prayer for us and for her deliverance. They sang a song or two and then left. It all lasted only maybe 10 minutes, but was well appreciated and showed the resolve that we were in one accord for our efforts and for the girl’s release. They went on to the next event, leaving me, Awe, the local pastor, his wife, his mother-in-law, father-in-law, and the girl’s parents to continue in battle. I expressed to all I was there and would not leave until the work was done and I knew the girl was completely free. We were now positioned for a long and hard battle. This was the third day and I still saw no end in sight other than our resolve and our faith.
There was a voice talking to me telling me on the first day that I was to lay hands on her hips, her pelvis and bind the spirit. Her body is totally limp in my arms. This seemed to be an intrusion and even sexual, but I remembered in the ’70’s that spirits would go to certain places within the body to hide and as we laid our hand on those locations, the spirit would move or go. I therefore laid my hands on her pelvis and spoke over her. The next day I felt the impression to lay my hands on her back. When I did, she arched up… This led to us later to praying over her stomach under her ribcage as well. It is now the third day and about 2:30 PM. For quite a while (even the day before) I was hearing a voice speaking of her needing to be totally delivered,…as a means of not letting the spirit have anyplace to go. I am not doing it, but the thought is there lingering in my mind becoming stronger and stronger. And then I heard the voice of God. “You shall not violate this girl.” I smiled and told Him I heard Him loud and clear. I then turned on the spirit and told the spirit the same words I had heard. “We will not allow you to violate this girl. She belongs to the King. You have no place to go. You have to leave. Go!” That seemed to be the breaking point for the spirit. The spirit got more active in the girl, showing some violence, thrashing, and visual discomfort. And then she finally uttered something as a cry. (The girl or spirit were not talking during this deliverance.) I asked what she had cried out in Thai? Awe said she said “I surrender!” This was followed by greater thrashing. I confess at that moment I did not know whether the girl said this or the spirit, but formed my words to speak both to the spirit of the girl and the devil, saying “Yes, you will surrender. You will surrender to the Lord God Almighty!” The girl got more active in her thrashing, even swinging a little at the people around her as she began to sit up. And then it was over. All this, from the time she spoke, took no more than 5 minutes. She was free. She hugged Awe who was beside her. People spoke of me. I was behind her. She turned around and gave me a great big hug.
That evening we went to the following event. She danced in full costume the local dances and was so beautiful. She stole the show. There was another woman who had apparently received a full healing of her legs by my laying on of hands from the day before. (I confess, I do not remember her or praying for her.) She rejoicingly gave testimony to her healing, giving me thanks. The service went splendidly. I was in glory!
The next morning I went 3 hours away to Cambodia to extend my VISA; and then returned. Nowing that this young woman had twice come out and then went back into her comatose state, I was aprehensive as to what we would find. I went to Cambodia at 5:30 AM and had not had a report on her condition. When we arrived the girl was still free and running around with her peers as if nothing had ever happened. That evening I again was asked to teach at the last event, which I did. Many people gave their lives again to the Lord; but again, it was her who stole the show as again she danced in costume with about eight other very young girls also in costume trying to follow her example. She was beautiful and glowing.
It is great to experience the Lord in such events as these. He is still setting the captives free.
Sincerely in Christ, RANDY
