As I wake up each morning, I have to make a choice. Do I continue to pursue something today that the Lord impressed upon my heart yesterday? If I truly believe that I have a relationship with the Lord and He speaks, convicts and leads me….then the answer is yes, I should not question or doubt.
Then how can I let the challenges of life distract me from the pursuit of God’s will? I really believe it’s because we sense God’s finger pointing us in a direction but we feel the responsibility of guessing which daily path will get us there. How much of God’s will rests on my decision making skills? Questions like: Do I embrace that thing or should I listen that that thing? Sometimes my questions become louder than His answers. And I find myself in a crises of faith.
I guess it all gets summarized to a few statements:
1. I give You my life Lord.
2. I will keep quiet about the thing I have already presented over and over to You.
3. I will be patient as I remember You reward “persistence, perseverance, patience, endurance.”
4. I will wake up and choose to love, serve and follow You.
5. I will continue and I will learn to live by faith.
When it is all said and done, Habakkuk 3:17-19 says it best, “Though the fig tree should not blossom, and there be no fruit on the vines. Though the yield of the olive should fail, and the fields produce no food, though the flock should be cut off from the fold, and there be no cattle in the stalls, Yet I will exult in the Lord. I will rejoice in the God of my salvation. The Lord God is my strength , and He has made my feet like hinds’ feet, and makes me walk on my high places.”

I have been going through a rough two weeks and felt so apart from God the past couple of days. I was like, “how could He possibly still love me when I ask Him, the Sovereign Father and God of the Universe, why is or are these things happening to me”? I needed this today and I know God was speaking directly to me. I became doubtful and hurt by the circumstances surrounding me but God still loves me with all my faults and I love Him.
Hi. Yesterday my sister and I attended The Power Of Hope conference. We have been to five and absolutely love you both. You have been at my church as guest speakers and I made the stained glass crosses for you. We both noticed how different this one was. There was no opening prayer, no bibles in your hands as you sat on your stools sharing Gods word, and a real sense of taking care of business first and the Lord last. It was a giant conglomeration of people hawking their wares. Great motivational speakers, but not too spiritual. Laura Cain was wonderful and the worship was moving, but it quickly returned to making money in the world and a lack luster blessing before lunch. We left at 3:30 saying we are glad we didn’t bring a friend and wondering why we brought our bibles, I actually felt weird that I was carrying mine. We were not looking for a mountain top experience, just what you have always offered in the past, sisters in Christ sharing time together with the Lord.
Hi Ellen, I know its almost been a year since you wrote us. I did not respond sooner because I truly felt the same way as you. Even though we did not advertise the Power of Hope Conference as an evangelistic or discipleship event in any way, those of us who had attended years prior would clearly recognize a change. Sharp Health Care’s sponsorship was truly an answer to prayer but with them as a sponsor, we needed to change the message to be about women’s health. After last year’s event, Bobbye and I really thought we would not have another one because we did not want to increase the ticket prices but could not afford the events. A secular sponsor would not support the true mission of these events. Well, Praise God!!
