“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.”
Matthew 6:34 (ESV)
Today. I will get through today.
It’s easy to let our minds race ahead to next week, next month, or next year. We plan, we wonder, and sometimes we worry. There’s nothing wrong with hoping for tomorrow, and today may even be about making good plans for what’s ahead. But today, I am responsible for what is right in front of me.
Today, I will gather what I need to make wiser decisions for tomorrow. I will listen, learn, and pay attention. I don’t have to have every answer right now. I only need to be faithful with the step I’m on.
Today is here, and it’s a gift. Both today and tomorrow hold opportunities, but today is the one I’ve been given to live. It’s a day blessed by God, and I want to handle it with care. I will carry my responsibilities with joy and walk through them with a grateful heart.
Not every part of today will be good. Some moments may be hard, disappointing, or tiring. Still, I’m asked to give thanks in all circumstances. Gratitude doesn’t pretend the hard things aren’t there. It simply trusts that God is present in them. And often, when tomorrow comes, it shines a gentler, brighter light on today. What felt heavy in the moment may later show me God’s faithfulness in ways I couldn’t see before.
So I will take each day as it comes. Tomorrow will have its own concerns, and God will already be there when I arrive. For now, I’ll rest in knowing that His grace is enough for today.
A Moment to Reflect
What is one thing in front of you today that you can handle with care, joy, or gratitude? What worry about tomorrow can you place in God’s hands right now?
Prayer
Father,
Thank You for today. Thank You for another day to bless You, to help someone else, and to show kindness. Help me not to borrow tomorrow’s worries, but to trust You with each moment as it comes. I look to You and ask for Your strength to carry me through this day faithfully.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
